A Farewell from Gill

I'm sorry that some of you may be feeling grief and loss. I think the loss of someone we love, is perhaps the hardest challenge that anyone ever has to face, so my heart goes out to you. What I can say is that we can make the experience far worse, or far better, by the way we see it. As I understand it, pain always means that we are not seeing things as our higher self sees them (which is why we feel negative emotion - as a warning sign of this splitting of energy).

If you have been touched by my death then my understanding is that you and I had a contract to part around this time, for all the gifts that it would eventually bring to you - which you will only understand when you look back in years to come. You may have done some workshops with me, and I'm sure you know (in theory) that death is not a tragedy; it is simply the choice to make a transition from one state of consciousness to another. Yes, it would be easier if I had chosen just to retire and no longer respond to emails - but somehow you have to come to terms with the choice I made. For whatever reasons, this lifetime was finished for me.

I am still very much here, but just not embodied any more. Love is an eternal bond, and you only need to think of me with love and I will be there, connecting with you. But you will only be able to sense me when you release the grief, and simply connect with the love. (A friend of mine even co-authored a book with a close friend after her friend’s death, having established close and easy communication with her.) You might be amazed at how rapidly you can find peace again, once you get your energy flowing and reconnect with your higher self (who sees nothing as bad or wrong).

You can focus on what is wrong or missing - my death - or you can choose to focus on what is positive. I have gone physically but I am absolutely fine, and you are still here - and so many good times lie in store for you still, with many other people to love and be loved by. If you look for what is positive in life, and things to be grateful for in each day, and choose to think only of happy memories of me, you will begin to release the grief - and then you will begin to attract more positive events and opportunities in your life. Focus on what you enjoy, who you enjoy being with and what dreams you have for the future. It might take time, but you can do it. In the meantime, there are hundreds of comforting books about the afterlife which show beyond any doubt that life is eternal, and that the only reality is Love.

I wish you all the very best with your journey. It will get easier - and so many gifts lie ahead.

Ian Roberts 19th Nov 2011: Dear Brian and family, I have just been to Gill's website and I am so very sad to hear about her passing. Having been lucky enough to have met Gill at one of her workshops in Ambleside, I can truly say that she was an inspiration. Many, many people around the world will be touched and saddened to hear that she is no longer with us. Thankfully, she has left us with a tremendous legacy and I'm sure that her words will become even more important for generations to come. Elisabeth Davidson 19th Nov 2011: I was so saddened to hear of Gill's death. Her books have helped me through dark times and always showed me the way and lifted me up. I always meant to come to one o her workshops, but life always got in the way. I will be comforted by fact that she is in the Light now and not suffering. Her legacy will live on in her books and in all the people she touched over the years. I lost my son two years ago so know the unspeakable pain her family will be going through. I just sent Gill an email about a month ago as I;d found myself thinking about her for a few days and wanted to contact her and find out how she was. I did not know she was still so poorly. I was lucky enough to have met Gill in person at an event in Ambleside and read 4 of Gill's books.Only yesterday I was browsing through 'Life is a Gift' so apt at this time. TJ 20th Nov 2011: Gill was, and still is, truely inspirational! I stumbled upon "Pure Bliss" in a second hand bookshop when i was travelling in New Zealand and it completely changed my attitude towards life! I especially noticed the change when i was stuck behind slow moving camper vans on the twisty narrow NZ roads. Before reading her book I would get stressed out and frustrated at going so slow and not being able to overtake. It made me enjoy the moment, there was nothing i could do to change the fact that i was unable to overtake, she helped me to find peace and enjoy my journey! I have fond memories of sharing her book with my fellow travellers. Her inspiration will remain in my heart forever and I have no doubt that the book I bought is still winging it's way around the travellers of the world, as I passed it on, and I know they then passed it on... thank you Gill! x

Sally-Ann Soulsby 20th Nov 2011: Gill - my friend and my teacher for 18 years! Gill inspired me to step up and become who I am. She challenged me to believe in myself when she handed me her mailing list after Kieran was born and invited me to run the workshops with Rob, Steve and Rita in her maternity.absence. I never looked back. We shared a wonderful couple of hours in August and I will be forever grateful for her wise counsel. She came to me in a dream a few days ago and it was so vivid I had to email her about it. I now realise why the contents of that dream were so significant and it makes complete sense! I love her as a friend, a teacher and as a soul sister. Thank you Gill for everything!

Her books are so easy to read, I can hear her when I read them. It was her work with EFT & Matrix Reimprinting in one of her workshops that led me to where I am now. At the time very heavily into using class A drugs, Gill helped me to realise that the same light that I sought through using drugs was in me already. Again Gill appeared when I had Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Life is a Gift, Wild Love and Pure Bliss were all books that helped me on my journey to health. When Gill agreed to write the forward for the book I co-authored I was overwhelmed with gratitude. I had the pleasure of taking her out for dinner and telling her what a light she had been in my life. So the light of Gill lives on in me but also in all the people that my book helped also. And the ripple of love and light spreads out across the universe and will continue to do so forever more. Rachael Greenland 20th Nov 2011: Some people come into your life in a way which demonstrates how important it is to listen and appreciate their message. It sounds as though Gill died as she lived - with grace, love and acceptance. I had the pleasure of attending one of her workshops and learned a little of that grace and acceptance, but mainly love. I met my partner there, and last Thursday we were drawn so strongly to return to Ambleside and a walk along Rydal Water. Gill was very much on my mind and now I know why. I am so very sad to hear of her passing, but also peaceful in the knowledge that her message continues in her books, and her love "like the ocean" continues to flow back and forth between both her and those who had the pleasure to meet her. Andrea 20th Nov 2011: I had 'unusual' beliefs as a child and when I was chatting to someone at college some 18 or so yrs ago, he suggested I read Living Magically. This was such a turning point for me - not only was there validation of the things I had always believed but there was so much new understanding in those pages too. Hearing the news of Gill's passing took the wind out of my sails but her message reminds me that the direction I take from here, and every other day, is up to me. I had only recently been introduced to Gills work and it inspired me greatly and helped me in coming to a life changing decision about my career and life. Despite all the understanding that I'm sure Gill's family will have about her passing it must be hard to not have her there physically as I'm sure she was as inspirational in person as in her writing. CAROLINE KNOWLES 21st Nov 2011: I was so shocked to read the email today. I had the privilege to know Gill for 27 years. She was such a beautiful, kind, caring human being and touched my life in so many ways. She was always there for me and sent me many wonderful emails which kept me going through difficult dark days. She gave me the confidence to 'follow my dreams and live with joy'. I am now in Nigeria, working as an educational volunteer. On seeing the email, I left the office in tears but as I walked through the noisy, dirty streets, surrounded by poverty and squalor in the searing heat I felt her love around me. Gil taught me to find hope in the darkest places. But oh how I will miss her physical presence. Thank you Brian for the letter which touched my heart and makes me know I can keep going.

Words cannot truely say how much Gill taught me she was my first teacher 20 years ago and I have attended many of her workshops. she taught me how to hold a group, how to hold space and how to hold whatever a client brought to a session with grace and love. When meditating today I was shown that death of someone close can often be a gift that they are giving to those left behind. At times this is hard to understand and we can only see this when time has passed. Her writing was so inspirational and helped me enormously through difficult and confusing times. Even now, six years after reading it for the first time, 'Living Magically' is always the one book I choose to re-read if ever I'm feeling a little 'stuck' or unsure. I remember a fellow delegate once commenting that she could listen to Gill reading the telephone directory and be inspired, and I remember Gill laughing. But it was true. I've purchased many of Gill's books and was lucky enough to attend one of her talks at the Mind, Body and Spirit Festival in Manchester a couple of years ago. It was in that talk that Gill informed us of her recent illness. I was shocked then, and am a hundred times more shocked now. We can do our best with the knowledge about health that we have, but we have to remember that the hand of fate decides when it's time for us to depart from the physical World. My condolences to all Gill's family and close friends. Her books have given me great comfort and help. "Wild Love" was stunning in its relevance to me. It helped me shift my perspective on some of my relationships. Her influence continues with her beautiful Farewell words. As I read them I felt a lifting of my energies and spirit. They rang so true. I had my dear old dog, Sammy, companion of nearly 14 years, put to sleep two weeks ago. Gill's words helped me release my sadness about his passing too. I'll keep Gill's Farewell so I can revisit them at times of my friends, both human and animal, passing over. I know they're always just a thought away. Gill's words remind me of that.

This book really changed my thinking and my perceptions of the world. Some years later I attended 2 workshops with Gill at Rydal Hall. Both were helpful and illuminating and I remember some amazing experiences I had during guided journeys with her. Her last book "Conscious Medicine" is another seminal piece of work, in which she brings together a vast amount of research and applies all this to everyday life - her greatest gift. She was a pioneer, a teacher, writer and therapist who has inspired me through my life. May God bless her.

I was reading her book " Living Magically" on Saturday near the Christo Rie statue in Maderia. I looked down and there was a tiny silver butterfly earring at my feet that I hadn't seen before. It was identical to the butterfly on the front of the book. I know Gill is in a better place now and can continue to communciate with us with her wise and wonderful ways. Mary Nielsen 24th Nov 2011: Gill "visited" me last night (23rd November). I was going through a difficult hour or so and she just appeared and stayed with me. I could feel her great compassion, love and understanding and wisdom, and was greatly helped by her. I could see her smiling face and had some kind of conversation with her. I was recommended Living Magically 17 years ago by a friend when I was in a dark place. I have since attended a couple of workshops, eagerly awaited the publication of every new book (& I am so grateful to have some signed & with a personal message). Vivienne 26th Nov 2011: It was with deep shock and sadness that I learnt of Gill's passing from Cygnus. Living Magically entered my life in 1995 and from then on all Gill's books and immense wisdom profoundly influenced me. It was a privilege to see Gill and hear her talks at the Mind, Body and Spirit Festival and finally at Alternatives in December 2010 when she had trudged through the Cumbrian snow trusting that the Universe would enable her to reach London. mandy 26th Nov 2011: We have a set of Gill's cards in our guesthouse by the front door and people will often pick them up and see what they are. If I'm around I'll let them know they can ask a question or simply take a couple of deep breaths and stand peacefully for a few moments before choosing. I see the sceptical ones immediately but many have come back from a day out and said how much the message has either influenced them or given them some time to reflect on smthg going on in their lives. They were a present from one of our guests many years ago, one of the best presents the guesthouse has ever had! Gill will be in our hearts (certainly mine anyway) on a daily basis as we tune into her beautiful messages. It was a revelation and really helped me move forward with my life and deal with past and present issues. I have since bought most of her CD's and another of her books. Gill is a true inspiration and I have told many people about her lifework. She will be truly missed but will always be in our hearts. Thank you Gill.

I happened upon one of Gill's books on a trip to London and felt very drawn to come to the Conscious Medicine workshop in Ambleside just over a year ago. Gill's generous heart, courage and wisdom which were so in evidence in person, continue to speak through her wonderfully practical, as well as magical books. I am very grateful for her teachings. Bonnie Rosengarten 22nd Dec 2011: I only found out late last night by reading a message in 'Alternatives' magazine. It took my breath away. I first met Gill when she ran her first ever course in West Hampstead in 1992. Living Magically had not long been published and I had come across it and at that point had never read anything like it. So much so that I found a way of contacting her. She told me she was running a 9 month course starting in three days time, but it was full. I was shattered. Two days later she called me and said someone had dropped out. Thus began a whole new way of looking at the world. I went to read, study and experience all I could in the field of personal growth, metaphysics and esoteric practices. It finally culminated in me training to become a transpersonal psychotherapist. Jan Brooks 21st Feb 2012: To Gill's family. I bought a CD of Gill's last year (Becoming Your Future Self and Finding a New Power Animal) this was when I was recovering from a potentially life threatening illness. I am fully recovered now but last night played the first track again. My experience was such that I shared it with spiritual friends on Facebook and they wanted to know more about the author. I was therefore saddened to see when I went onto Gill's webste Livingmagically that she passed back to spirit in November. I read too her letter on grief and loss and I wonder if she wrote this intending that it would be read by you on her death. How thoughtful of her. I know you must miss her terribly but take comfort from her spiritual presence which remains with you. Love never dies and she truly is just a thought away. The light which she brought into the world has touched many and her legacy of healing lives on and I give thanks for that.

Anne Frances 31st Mar 2012: I am re-reading Gill's book 'Concious Medicine' which is absolutely fantastic. I am a nurse and complementary therapist working in the NHS. I am so inspired by Gill's writing that I went onto her website as I wanted to make contact with her to find out she had contacts in my neck of the woods (Suffolk). I was sad to see that she has died. But then read her message that reminded me that of course she is okay. I will now make that connection with her in the ether. Perhaps she can help me on my quest, which is to gradually help change the minds and entrenched way of thinking by people who work in the medical profession and to pass on this knowledge to all who are ready to listen. Caroline 22nd Apr 2012: What can I say - I've only just found out and it was a huge shock. I only went to one workshop after finding out about Gill's work in a Reiki book. It truly changed my perspective on a lot of life's challenges, and the love I felt from her and everyone in the room was amazing. All I can say is that she set me on a journey all those years ago when her 1st book 'Living Magically' jumped out at me from the shelf in the bookshop in Leamington. She gave me the courage to make enormous, monumental changes in my life that are ongoing. Her words were beautiful and meaningful in a sometimes frightening world and I want to thank her for all the gifts that she gave me . Gill was incredibly brave herself in so many ways. Eve 8th Jul 2012: I am really shocked and saddened to hear that Gill passed away, I was telling someone on a meditation retreat just how much her books Conscious Medicine and Life is a Gift have changed the way I live my life, and they informed me that she has now left us. I felt that she would live forever...but of course, she really is, returning to her Higher Self. Her parting letter touched me deeply and has made this a little easier, but still the tears come. I met Gillian at a talk in London and she just glowed with Infinite Intelligence and Love. She has exchanged emails with me and helped me to see how high vibrational thinking is the only way. Her advice to follow your bliss is probably the best piece of advice anyone could have in this world. She radiated kindness, and took time with a very long queue to sign books for everyone, despite looking very tired. Her first book, "Living Magically", helped me through a devastating period of loss back in 1993 and for that I will be eternally grateful to her for showing me that love does not stop when one leaves or dies. Tim 28th Jan 2013: I just found out today when looking on Gill's website for news of any new books that she has passed. I am very sad to hear this, I love her work and have read all her books. Living Magically changed my life's direction, Pure Bliss helped me through a difficult year 2009 which became one of the best years of my life. So many things happened whilst reading that book (she recommended Matthew Fox, discovered he was born Timothy James as am I, he lives in Hawaii where I was getting married later that year, also a strange experience with a garden floor full of butterflies happened at the time of reading this book, butterflies adorn many if not all of her books, many pages answered questions I asked the morning before reading.....a great many more synchronicities too). Her writing and message is one of beauty and love, passion and empowerment, thank you thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving that gift. I have read all her books and they did change my life in such a positive way. I once lent Living Magically to a friend who returned it to me saying she would be eternally grateful to me for lending it to her as it had changed her life. Taryn Ellis 25th Jan 2014: I have just logged onto Gill's website and saw that she passed on in 2011, this came as a complete shock. I was actually logging onto her website to write a note to tell her how her books have changed my life, I have been meaning to do this for years and am so sad I never got to tell her what an inspriration I found her to be. I first read Living Magically in 2006 and it changed my life, I have now almost read all of her books and I feel much more in tune and on a higher plane when I read her books. Im currently reading Wild Love and am lapping it up and loving every word. I want her to know what a difference she has made to so many peoples lives and how she has touched us, she truely had a gift! I hope wherever she is she knows this. I am so sad about her passing, however know she is blissful in another life or plane now. Thank you Gill for all your magical words. With much love, Taryn
Roselyne Chambost 26th Jan 2014: I was just looking at coming to a workshop in the UK to meet Gill Edward, the author of Living Magically, a book I have recently read and cherish for the impact it has had on my Life... I am now reading conscious Medecine, equally empowering...which led me to look at the possibility of travelling to the UK for a workshop. But I was, until today, unware of her moving on to other state of consciousness and feel so sad I never had the chance to meet such a wonderful soul. Her impact on my life though has been enormous and I thank her from all my heart...I know she can feel the Love still". Au revoir, we will meet somewhere else. Blessings

Shocked and saddened by her death but understand Gill has been called by Energy for work in other realms. Will continue to read gill's books as they are invaluable tools for personal transformation. fiona philips 13th Jun 2015: I was sad to find out that Gill has passed across the veil. I know well how thin that veil is, through the gifts of spritualist mediums so I know all these words of love from everyone on this website will reach her. Thank you Gill for going before and helping to light the way to us, sometimes, weary travellers. In my 20's she helped me to understand the journey and hope for the full healing and 4d experience. Now 25 years on I see I am really there and what is possible as we each become the imaginal cells of the emerging butterfly, together taking flight into a new dawn. Thank you with love and light.
